Best Books of 2012: #19, ‘Love’s Winning Plays’

As part of our Best Books of 2012 coverage, our editors weigh in on some of their personal favorites from the list.

Sometimes you just need a book that makes you laugh—all the better if it lampoons the sacred church of SEC football and features one of the best toilet paper-related scenes of all time. Even if you don’t know (or don’t care about) the difference between a first down and a field goal, you’ll still get a kick out of the laugh-out-loud Love’s Wining Plays by Inman Majors. It’s the story of an unconventional friendship, the absurdity of a national obsession and of doing the right thing. Majors has given us a quick read and a fun read. Don’t miss it.
