Best Books of 2012: #25, ‘You Came Back’

As part of our Best Books of 2012 coverage, our editors weigh in on some of their personal favorites from the list.

You Came Back book jacketChristopher Coake explores the agony and the ecstasy of love and parenthood in You Came Back. Seven years after his son’s tragic death, Mark Fife is finally getting his life back on track . . . that is, until he learns that the boy who lives in his former house has seen the ghost of his son. Is there any possibility that there’s truth to the boy’s outrageous claim? This wrenching novel reads like a thriller, but bring the Kleenex. (Catharsis is a good thing, right?)

Read our review or a behind-the-book essay by Christopher Coake.
