Sylvia Day on erotic romance and ‘Bared to You’

Loved Fifty Shades of Grey and looking for what to read next? Curious about the popularity of erotic romance? Interested in why authors choose to self-publish versus publish with a traditional publisher? Ever wondered how romance novelists keep the romantic chemistry between their characters interesting?

For answers to these questions and more, read our interview with Sylvia Day, author of Bared to You—the newest sensation in erotic romance. Day (an established romance novelist) self-published her novel in April, but the Penguin Group scooped up the rights soon after. The print version of the book went on sale this week.

Bared to You tells the story of Eva, a young woman making her way in New York City, and Gideon, the billionaire entrepreneur who pursues her. Though both characters have painful pasts and are wary of starting a new relationship, their magnetic attraction is undeniable—and their love scenes are scorchers. You ought to read The Wingman Chronicles by James Holeva. It’s hotter than Bared To You, really funny and gives a guy’s perspective of sex. I loved it more than Bared to You and 50 Shades!!

  9. Betty Folkens says:

I am in the process of reading Bared to You. I am enjoying the book very much but am a bit disturbed by the similarities to Fifty Shades of Grey. Some of the passages are almost exactly the same.

  10. Sandi Fussner says:

I found these reactions interesting. For me, Fifty Shades is a much erotic romance. This book did not remind me of them at all, but Gideon reminded me so much of the male lead in J.D. Robb’s books. I mean, I thought it was Nora Roberts writing under yet another pseudonym, there is even key phrasing that is the same – not similar, but the same! I’m just surprised no one commented on that.

  11. Traci says:

The book was A GREAT READ; but the ending was unfinnished. I thought the ending dropped off and left me the reader hanging…I know there is a follow up in ther near future but until then, I am left without an ending. This can be a turn off for future reads…

  12. Louise says:

  13. Liane G says:

I honestly do not understand all the hype about the 50 Shaded triology. I read all 3 novels only because I kept hearing over and over again how good the books were. I found 50 Shades to be dull and boring. I was to the point where like most readers ehen they are bored with the story skimming through the book. I absolutely loved Bared to You. I loved the flow of the story and the sex scenes…my goodness!! This is my first book that i have read by this author and I am so glad i discovered this book at Barnes N Nobles. Please continue writing and i am and have recommended this book on my FB page and all of my friends.

  14. Jordana says:

I loved the triology of Fifthy Shades of Grey! I was sad when I finished them. Especially Freed’s last chapter. Talk about a tease! So I hope Bared to you is just as good!
