Any Anne Tyler fans reading the blog? Yeah? Well, get excited: The author of Breathing Lessons (a Pulitzer winner), Dinner at the Homesick Restaurant (a Pulitzer finalist), The Accidental Tourist and 15 other novels will have a new book out in April 2012.
Called The Beginner’s Goodbye, the story is “an exploration of loss and recovery in which a middle-aged man, ripped apart by the death of his wife, is gradually restored by her frequent appearances (in their house, on the roadway, in the market).” The announcement was in Publishers Marketplace.
In a review of Tyler’s latest novel, Noah’s Compass, Deborah Donovan wrote that “Anne Tyler is known and loved for her character studies—delicate and perceptive probings into imperfect, achingly familiar lives.” She praised the author’s “profiles of a character exploring, within the boundaries of family obligations, the possibilities of stepping outside an otherwise uneventful existence. ”
Are you looking forward to this book? Have you heard about any other novels coming out next year that will be worth the wait? (Barbara Kingsolver! And Ron Rash. Woo-hoo, I’m getting impatient already.)

So excited to hear that Ann Tyler has a new book coming out. I have loved all of her previous books. Ladder of Years was my favorite.
I am a fan, & although I’m mostly reading lots of children’s fiction and professional books, I love good adult fiction, like Anne Tyler’s, too. I’ll look for it!! Thanks for letting us know.
Oh- a new novel!
I´m very happy to read this!
I´m a absolutely Tyler-fan, but please, please translate this book in German….. as soon as it is possible….
In hope
