Internet sensation Marcel the Shell, star of stop-motion animation Marcel the Shell with Shoes On by Jenny Slate and Dean Fleischer-Camp, has some big news — he will be starring in his own picture book from Razorbill. According to Publisher’s Weekly, “the picture book, Marcel the Shell with Shoes On: Things About Me, will be published on November 1 with a 100,000-copy first printing.” The book will apparently also include oil paintings of Marcel, and it will be published at the same time of an “interactive version of the book and a downloadable digital audio version recorded by Slate, who voices Marcel’s character.”

Glad to see the little guy getting the fame he has earned, being so durn cute’n'all.
However — for me, a huge chunk of its cuteness comes from the voice. Do you think the book will be as funny as the video, even with the audio companion?

A lot of the humor comes from her tone and the way she talks. I think that as long the book dialogue preserves her humorous pauses and pacing, it will convey the original sense.
