As most of you already know, BookPage sends out an e-mail every Monday-Friday containing a book review. (It’s called, appropriately enough, “Book of the Day.”)
Well, Book of the Day is about to hit 10,000 subscribers. To put us over the edge—and to say “thank you” to the people who already receive the e-mails—we’re starting a contest AND introducing a new feature on the blog. Here are the deets:
1) We will give a box of 10 books plus a $10 Books-A-Million gift card to the 10,000th subscriber to Book of the Day. Sign up here to receive Book of the Day.
2) If you already receive Book of the Day, share it via e-mail, Twitter, Facebook or LinkedIn to be entered to win a box of books for yourself. You MUST click one of the buttons at the top of the newsletter (shown above)—otherwise, we won’t know that you shared. We’ll give away 10 boxes of books to 10 randomly selected people who share Book of the Day.
3) Book of the Day is all about introducing new books to our readers. Here on the blog, we want to take that concept and make it even more personal. Every day next week—and once a week until we hit 10,000 subscribers—we are going to give a reader a personal book recommendation, aka a book fortune.
Book fortunes are first come, first served, so send me an e-mail now (bookoftheday [at] bookpage [dot] com) with the following information:
First name
Hometown
Favorite genre
Favorite author(s)
Favorite book(s)
Based on that information, the reading-obsessed editors of BookPage will put their heads together and come up with a personalized book recommendation.
To summarize: Sign up for Book of the Day, share it with your friends and let me know if you want a personalized book rec!
And as always, thank you for reading.

Tricia
hometown: Woodland Hills, CA
favorite genre: mystery
favorite authors: Lee Child, James Patterson, Karen Slaughter, Kellerman, Coben
favoite book: 61 Hours
Tricia–the authors you mentioned are among my favorites too, so I wanted to tell you about a mystery author I stumbled on about two weeks ago: Steve Hamilton. Mr. Hamilton has written a collection of stories about a retired Detroit policeman who lives in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, Alex McKnight.
I’ve been waiting (not so patiently) for the next Lee Childs story and desperatly needed a mystery “fix”. My local bookstore (Boarders) recently closed , but before the last day arrived, the manager suggested a long list of authors; Steve Hamiliton was one of those mentioned. In the past ten days I’ve read through the Alex McKnight series and I have fallen for this author and his family of rich characters. I hope this introduction will bring you many happy hours of “a good read”.
I just discovered Steve’s books too. I read The Lock Artist and loved it. Right now my books are scattered all over the floor waiting for their new bookshelves to be finished. I might find that I have some of his others. I discovered a couple of other authors you might like: Linda Castillo and Karin Slaughter. Thanks for the tips.
Pat
hometown: St Clairsville OH
Favorite authors: Elizabeth Peters and Clive Cussler
Favorite: genre: mystery, suspense, historical mystery
Favorite books: the Amelia Peabody series
I, too, love the Amelia Peabody books but I wonder if the series is about to end. The time between books is getting much longer as the author gets older (as do we all). Wish she would just write one that clearly is the last one so we would all know not to anticipate any more books.
Because of nerve deafness I spend quite a bit of my time reading. Social interaction is difficult at best and frustrates not only me but everyone trying to have a conversation with me. Reading is my life line …not just enjoyable but necessary! Bring on the books!
Since I first learned to read, books have been precious to me and I look at them as treasures. To think that inside a book is a wonderful story that can take the reader off to another world is an amazing thing. If I don’t get to read everything I want before I die, let’s hope there are books galore in Heaven!

I answer to Joan or Joni and I live in Palmyra, NJ. I haven’t been reading for 70+ years like Sally but I’m getting close. I like to read a lot of different genres like mysteries, thrillers, romance, action and even the occasional sci-fi. I really don’t care for vampire fiction. I think my favorite authors are Diana Gabaldon the author of the Outlander series and Nora Roberts for contemporary fiction.
