Weekly links

I don’t know about you all, but I am pretty darn excited about the long weekend. What are you planning to read? I already mentioned that I’m diving into The Foreigners . . .

Here are some favorite links of the week:

  • On NPR.org, Malinda Lo—YA author of Ash and Huntress—recommends three novels that reclaim fairy tales and myths for women and girls. Lo’s Ash is a re-telling of Cinderella.
  • In Bookforum, Ruth Franklin has written a very interesting piece on American bestsellers—about both predicting them (impossible) and comparing them (they all sell a lot of copies).
  • May 27 (today) marks the 114th birthday of Rachel Carson, and Silent Spring remains a classic. Audubon Magazine has compiled several recommendations for books about Carson’s life—including a lovely picture book.

Do you have any links of the week to share? Have a happy weekend!
