Trailer for ‘The Help’!

This post needs little introduction—in fact, you’ve probably already skipped this sentence and hit “play” to watch the trailer for the movie version of Kathryn Stockett’s The Help:

Here are my initial thoughts:

1) It’s more upbeat than I expected. Although The Help is moving and uplifting, it is also really sad at parts. (Granted, this is only a 2.5 minute trailer.)

2) Where is Celia Foote?!

What are your thoughts?

Read an interview with Kathryn Stockett about The Help in BookPage, or read about the novel in our April book clubs column. The paperback is on sale now!

OMG! I can’t wait until this movie comes out!! Someone borrowed my book but as soon as I get it back I’m reading it again.

This trailer is sliced up to look like a comedy. It got more serious towards the end but still had that comedic element. Almost like Steel Magnolias.

Hmmm… I’m not sure I like the tone of it.

So happy to see Bryce Dallas Howard as Hilly – she is such a good actress. I didn’t want to be but I am looking very forward to this film!
