This morning’s edition of BookPageXTRA is all about our 20 most-anticipated books of 2011.
After compiling this list, I am happy to say that we have a lot to look forward to. There are first-time novels. Follow-ups to exciting debuts from 2010. New books from old favorites.
There are literary novels. Thrillers. Memoirs. A history of World War I.
Check out our full list of most-anticipated books, then let us know: Which books are YOU most excited about? What is our list missing?

Can’t wait for the next book by Bruce Machart (his novel, The Wake of Forgiveness, just came out last fall, lots of rave reviews). The new one is a short story collection, Men in the Making. Put it on your September calendar!
I am looking forward to reading a little bit of a “oldie”, The Girl who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest by Stieg Larsson. Read the first, in the middle of the second, and awaiting time to read the third.
Such a shame that he died so he cannot write anymore.
Love Liszbeth Salander, what a character!
You forgot the new Jodi Picoult novel due out in March! I love this site, but I will say I am disappointed that her book was left off the list.
Most anticipated book: Land of Painted Caves by Jean Auel. Due to be released March 29th. After waiting 9 long years for this one I don’t know if I’ll even get the opportunity to read it. I will probably have a heart attack the moment I lay my eyes on it! lol
I was surprised about the omission of the Jodi Picoult book also! Here are ones I am particularly looking forward to:
GEORGIA BOTTOMS by Mark Childress (2-28)
LIVE WIRED by Harlen Coben (3-22)
MIRACLES, INC. by T.J. Forrester (2-1)
GONE by Mo Hayder (2-1)
THE WORLD BENEATH by Cate Kennedy (2-1)
THE LAST JEW OF TREBLINKA by Chil Rajchman (2-15)
ON BORROWED TIME by David Rosenfelt (2-15)
BURNT MOUNTAIN by Anne Rivers Siddons (7-1)
THE REVENGE OF THE RADIOACTIVE LADY by Elizabeth Stuckey-French (2-8)
WRECKER by Summer Wood (2-15)
The two BIGGIES for 2011:
8 to 5, Against (Mary Doria Russell) Anticipated historical fiction from the author of The Sparrow.
Close Your Eyes (Amanda Eyre Ward) I dare you to not enjoy anything written by this author. She is America’s best-kept literary secret!
The Dark at the End by F. Paul Wilson. The last of the Repairman Jack novels. Read one of these and you won’t be able to wait for the next, either
I’m looking forward to First Grave on the Right by Darynda Jones, Outside Wonderland by Lorna Jane Cook and Night Road by Kristin Hannah.
I’m waiting for Hyperion to publish THE PLEASURES OF MEN, a historical novel set in 1840, by Kate Williams. It’s rumored to be arriving in late summer or fall.
I’m looking forward to Chris Adrian’s THE GREAT NIGHT. He’s won of my favorites, and this retelling of A Midsummer Night’s Dream sounds wonderful.
Most anticipated for me is The Pale King by David Foster Wallace.
