Monday Contest: Happily ever after from The Pioneer Woman

Happy day! I have been waiting two months to share the details of my trip to interview Ree Drummond with you, and now that The Pioneer Woman: From Black Heels to Tractor Wheels—A Love Story is on sale, I finally can.

My interview with PW is our February cover story, but you can get some behind-the-scenes scoop in this video. Ree was a wonderful sport as I asked her pressing questions on topics ranging from the sexiness of chaps to the importance of butter:

If you like happy endings, you’ll want to cozy up with this love story. Luckily, we’re giving away TWO copies. To enter to win, leave a comment with the names of your favorite literary couple.

ETA: Contest closed—congrats to commenter #47, Abby, and #110, Beth!

And keep on reading for more photos from my trip!

My trip began when I picked up an enormous Chevy at the airport in Tulsa. I was a little worried about getting behind the wheel of the biggest car I have ever driven. But hey—at least I was wearing my lucky cowgirl boots.

The next stop was the fabulous Inn at Woodyard Farms in Pawhuska. Innkeeper Carol Maupin is a woman after my heart: Every nook and cranny in the inn is stuffed with books.

Exhibits A, B & C.

The view out the window on my drive to the ranch.

I knew I was getting close when I passed this sign!

As I write in my piece in BookPage, Ree was as natural as could be—she really IS funny, self-deprecating and sweet.

The Drummond family's lodge.

Adventures in automatic picture taking. You can see the inside of the lodge in the background.

Finally, a good one.

Some more Oklahoma landscape.
