Karen Abbott has written best-selling books about a brothel in Chicago and Gypsy Rose Lee. Next, she’ll write about “four different courageous women during the American Civil War.” Sin in the Second City and American Rose were published with Random House, but for this new book Abbott has moved to Harper, following her editor Julia Cheiffetz.
In a recent review of American Rose, BookPage contributor Pete Croatto wrote:
