Will debut author Alex Adams‘ trilogy be the next big thing in post-apocalyptic fiction? From Publishers Marketplace:
Alex Adams’ debut WHITE HORSE, a post-apocalyptic quest novel about a woman who must guard and protect her unborn child while searching the desolate world for her lost lover, to Emily Bestler, in a major deal, including two additional books in a planned HORSE series.
Hey, Justin Cronin’s The Passage started with a “major” deal* for three books.
On that note, what’s your favorite end-of the-world (or world so bad it might as well be ended) novel? So many to choose from! From The Road to The Handmaid’s Tale to Stephen King’s The Stand . . .
*$500,000 & up, although in his case it was closer to $3.75 million

Sounds fantastic!
Love post-apocalyptic/dystopian fiction but not fond of the vampire/zombie takeover of the genre. One of my favorites is Califia’s Daughters by Leigh Richards (Laurie R. King). If I remember correctly, Alas Babylon was another great book. Lost my copy years ago but I would love to reread.
Can’t wait to see what others suggest – always looking to add to my library.
The Passage is on my books shelf, waiting to be read (it’s just so big…)
The Stand is one of my all-time favorites, but Suzanne Collins’ Hunger Games trilogy is up there, too. Last week, I read another teen novel, Unwind by Neal Schusterman, that had a view of the future that was chilling – an excellent, compelling book!

I’d rank The Passage on my list of favorite post-apocalyptic, though I did love The Handmaid’s Tale. Haven’t read The Stand yet, though. Looking forward to hearing more about Alex Adams!
I read an early version (manuscript) of this. Pretty solid. It’s like a modern twist on Pandora, with the usual post apocalyptic trappings. The genre is getting sort of tired (I liked The Road best of the recent crop). The twist Alex brings is the whole female protag thing.
