Just yesterday, Scholastic unveiled the book trailer for Mockingjay, the final book in Suzanne Collins’ The Hunger Games trilogy:
There’s not any new information here for Hunger Games fans, but the trailer does feed the fire of excitement that’s building toward the August 24 release. I like that foreboding background music!
Also on The Book Case: Read our past coverage of Suzanne Collins and The Hunger Games.

I read The Hunger Games based on buzz on Book Case and BookPage. I am 61 years old and wondered what a YA series would be like. I was immediately drawn into the highly imaginative world that Suzanne Collins has created. I read The Hunger Games in a couple of days and finished Catching Fire in a couple of sittings. I’ve pre-ordered Mockingjay and can’t wait to get my hands on it.
It’s funny because I really felt as if book #1 was a mix between The Running Man and Logan’s Run. I wasn’t too terribly impressed by it although I enjoyed reading it quite a bit.
By book #2 I was really liking the series. I can’t wait for book #3.
I am patiently waiting for my pre ordered copy. I work in a library in the youth services area and am looking forward to our Mockingjay party in September.
The high school students that I serve can’t wait for Mockingjay. We had 39 copies of Hunger Games and couldn’t keep them on the shelf–that’s in a high school of 880. Collins’ books have made readers of kids who’ve never read before. What librarian wouldn’t love books that create readers!
