As an author of both fiction and non-fiction, I am thrilled by the sight of people reading for pleasure. As an avid reader, I am tempted by any book that is well written, regardless of genre.

  174. Mickey Gillmor says:

For me a diverse platter is best — women centered fiction, but not romance. Science fiction, particularly of the Octavia Butler variety or Ursula LeGuin. Alas, no new books from LeGuin recently and we will never get more from Butler. What a loss! Historical fiction, but it needs to be reasonably accurate. Nonfiction about psychology, science (especially biology, anthropology). Mysteries with female protagonists. The classics — I’ve read Middlemarch at least six times.

  175. I enjoy fiction, literary fiction. Barbara Kingsolver’s THE POISONWOOD BIBLE is one of my all-time favorites. I liked THE HELP, STILL ALICE, Anna Quindlen’s EVERY LAST ONE, and Anne LaMott’s IMPERFECT BIRDS.

  176. Connie Jo Manning says:

I am a retired English teacher and have always loved reading. If nothing was available to read I would be the one reading the phone book! My tastes are for literary fiction and new and talented writers. I also love short stories and some well written murder mysteries.

  189. lore' behrens says:

being newly retired,I have a bucket list of titles that I simply must (now that time allows) devour. So many new books have been added too. I like mysteries mostly. Something with some adventure, twists and turns and some that jurk the tears right out of your face, and some that truely gross you out. I have gone back and read everything that james patterson and michael connely have written. There are some very good young adult books out there too for the times that I need a little light action. I love audio books mostly and it saddens me that some purists don’t realize how much you cann get done during the day with a book attached to your hip. Multi tasking is a must as my time on earth get shorter. I would take a part-time job if there was one out there but it would cut into my literature consumption. perhaps a night watchman job would do.

any way, summer winter fall or spring our library system provides us with any book we could ever want. I had to quit buying because of the down-turn of the economy, however, using the library has created a way to experience just about everything that is in print.
even if the economy hasn’t cut into your book buying action, use that library system. We will have to use it or lose it one day. thanks for hearing me out!!!

  190. Brandy Swaney says:
