Some books are great reads when you pick them up. You enjoy the time spent reading, the characters, the story, and you find that they provide a great escape from the here and now. Then there are those books that once started you know that they will have a significant impact on your life. You also know they will stay with you long after you have closed the back cover — and that a part of it will forever live in your mind and heart. Though books from this second category are harder to come by, once found you will always treasure them, the lessons they teach, and the wisdom that comes from having taken the journey to self understanding and growth that they inevitable take you on. This is one such book.

Amazing Historical Fiction

I love historical fiction — particularly when it entails the history of a place that is filled with the most fascinating people and events that the world has ever known. Such is the tale found in Mr. Hamill’s rendition of Forever. I never appreciated how significant a roll that New York played in the growth of this nation, until I had read this piece of historical fiction. Only then did I appreciate how much history can be found in this one amazing city! And while the story is beautiful, and very creative, and while there are characters that are both profound and profane all encapsulated in this little gem of a book — it is the city itself that commands the center of attention.
