Paul Harmon paints with an eye to where we fit into the universe. His images reflect a cosmopolitan view of the world through their reference to places and emotions that, when they come together, create a subtle tension. He encourages the viewer to complete the associates to which he alludes, often by segmenting his canvas to help the viewer focus on particular aspects. The clues Harmon provides to interpreting his work invite the viewer into his mind and intellect. Once there, the viewer can access some of the layers the artist represents in the work and connect with his own multiple viewpoints or levels of consciousness.
Harmon's signature style of stenciling a broken accent line creates a sense of depth and super-charges the seemingly subtle canvases. His perspective reinforces the impression of a space that invites the viewer inside.
