Peter Mayle's latest, "Chasing Cézanne," read by Ken Howard, is on the mark if you're in the mood for an art world caper, with a cast of beautiful people who know how eat, dress, forge and scam big-time. Andre Kelly, photographer for a trendy interior design magazine, edited by Camilla James Porter, the trendiest of them all and without a moral bone in her body, accidentally snaps a shot of a multimillion-dollar Cezanne being loaded into a plumber's van in front of a grand villa in the south of France. Andre smells a rat, an elegant New York art dealer smells major money, curiosity overrides good sense, and they are off. With Andre's gorgeous girlfriend along for the cultural tour, the trio embarks on a transatlantic chase that could spell danger, but definitely spells delight as Peter Mayle takes you on another Gallic gambol through that special world he knows soooo well, where the haute culture and the haute cuisine are seasoned with a soupcon of not-so-haute corruption.
Sukey Howard reports on spoken word audio each month. Don't miss her audio book reviews on CNN's "Sunday Morning."
