Bird Watching: On Playing and Coaching the Game I Love
Describe your book in 50 words or less:
Everywhere I went people kept asking me the same questions over and over, so when I was approached by Warner to do a book, I thought it would be a good idea so I could let people know what it's been like for me to go from playing basketball to coaching basketball.
What special message do you want to send to your readers with this book?
I guess it would be the same message I've always given to others...work as hard as you can, surround yourself with good people and good things will happen.
Which one extremely famous person would you like to read your book?
I can just say here that I hope whomever reads my book will enjoy it.
What's your favorite book? Favorite movie?
I enjoy reading any history book. My favorite movie is, "The Shawshank Redemption."
What do you like to read when you are travelling with the team?
I enjoy any non-fiction book,once in awhile a good mystery or suspense book.
In your pro career, who stands out as the toughest player to score against?
Magic Johnson was not only a great scorer but also an excellent defender and, of course, Michael Cooper of the Lakers always worked the hardest against me.
If you could name your own basketball team, what would you name it?
The Drive, because I would like my team to have the inner motivation it takes to win.
If you could pick one change to make in professional basketball, what would it be?
Actually, I would like less changes to keep the flow of the game as smooth and quick as possible, as it was meant to be played. Basketball is a beautiful game when it can be played that way.
Besides basketball, what other sports do you play?
I really enjoy fishing, golfing and tennis.
