As we finished our kung pao chicken last week, we cracked open our fortune cookie and read the message: "Beware 53-year-old woman wearing bikini."How mysterious! How scary!
Most of our fortunes tend toward the innocuous "You will be fabulously rich," so we took this ominous bikini fortune to heart.
What could it mean? We have never seen a 53-year-old woman wearing a bikini, and couldn't imagine what that would be like.
We asked our husband if he had seen such a person at his gym. We checked in on "Baywatch" to see if there'd been any new hires. We peeked through our blinds to see if our peculiar neighbor had been shopping. No luck anywhere.
Oh, well, we figured. We won't be spooked by some dumb fortune.
Yikes! There she is, right on my bookshelf! Fortune cookie refers to Joyce Vedral, muscley workout lady whose new book celebrates all that is a 53-year-old woman wearing bikini. "Weight Training Made Easy" may be chockablock with tips, but it's really chockablock with Joyce -- hundreds of Joyces, in every imaginable position.
Fortune cookie knows all.
