The Short Fiction of Alfred Bester
|
Review by Larry D. Woods
Alfred Bester was at the peak of the science fiction world 40 years ago with his two novels "The Demolished Man" (winner of the first Hugo Award for best novel) and "The Stars My Destination." "Virtual Unrealities: The Short Fiction of Alfred Bester" collects his vintage short stories, several of which ("Fondly Fahrenheit," "The Man Who Murdered Mohammed" and "Adam and No Eve") are still regarded as classics. Bester had a dazzling talent and the ability to enchant -- proven all over again by these stories.
Larry D. Woods has a huge collection of science fiction and fantasy. He is an attorney in Nashville.
