Visiting with Charles Kuralt

Reviews by Sukey Howard

Charles Kuralt will be missed by all of us, but his warm, familiar voice, his marvelously evocative meanderings through the heart of our American heartland, his ever-appealing style live on in the unique audio recordings he made. This past June, "Charles Kuralt's Summer" was released, and this fall, the last of his seasonal celebrations, "Charles Kuralt's Autumn" will be out.

Kuralt took a little time off from his "Life on the Road" to record A.A. Milne's best-loved works. "Winnie-the-Pooh," "The House at Pooh Corner," "When We Were Very Young" and "Now We Are Six" (Penguin Audiobooks, $10.95, 90 minutes each) have just become available. Pooh Bear, Christopher Robin and associates have found their perfect presenter in Mr. Kuralt who has left us all, old and young, with a quartet of tapes to enjoy again and again.

Sukey Howard reports on spoken word audio each month. Don't miss her audio book reviews on CNN's "Sunday Morning."
