Review by Leigh Steele
"Let's Have a Party" is a new book series for kids. They're especially good for girls in second grade.
I read the first two books, "Splash" and "School's Out." The two books are about a group of kids and some sort of party. In "School's Out" it was an end-of-the-year party, and in "Splash" it was a pool party. Each story is about a girl that is afraid to do something, but in the end she faces what she is afraid of and succeeds.
Both books have funny parts in them. In "School's Out" Lesley's principal told Lesley to imagine everyone in underwear so she wouldn't feel so nervous. In "Splash," it was funny how Maryellen tried to get out of having to go to the party. She let a sick dog sneeze on her so she could get sick. Then she got a worm for a pet even though she hates worms so she could say she had to stay home and take care of her worm, but her mom made her get rid of him.
At the end of the book there are ideas so you can have your own parties. If you like parties, I think you'll enjoy these books. There are more coming about other kinds of parties right up to Christmas.
Leigh Steele has just finished second grade and loves to have parties with her friends. She really likes the good suggestions for having parties in the back of each book in this series.
