David Sedaris is a very funny man with a wonderfully warped, wicked take on the world. He is also, at times, disarmingly honest, painfully direct. "Naked" is a collection of memoirs about growing up in the Sedaris household, and little is covered up.
David, if we trust his mischievous memory, was a tad compulsive as a child, licking light switches, kissing mailboxes, and taking his greatest pleasure in prolonged, solitary rocking. He cured himself in college when he discovered tobacco and alcohol. His Greek grandmother, his father, brother and many sisters, his beloved mother and, above all, himself are subjected to his smart, sharp, quirky scrutiny.
Sedaris and his sister Amy read, and if they don't make you laugh out loud, you may be in need of a humor adjustment.
