Etta's Choice

Review by Etta Wilson

Come on, take your shoes off. Wiggle your toes. It may be a long way down for us adults, but it's really not so far for the three-and-younger set. Discovering those five appendages at the end of each foot is a first step (no pun intended) in self-awareness.

"This Little Piggy" makes it even more fun. Shaped like a foot, each page has a toe that moves to correspond to the line of the classic rhyme printed there. As you pull the movable toe -- lo and behold -- a piggy slides up into view!

The one-year-olds who sit in your lap will love manipulating the sturdy toe and watching a pig pop up. Three-year-olds will find extra delight in Jane Manning's pictures that describe preparations for a gala birthday bash with lots of pigging out. And it all started when "This little piggy went to market . . . ".
