Review by Jodi Israel

Time travel is its own category. Constance O'Day Flannery wrote some of the best early time travels, but she has been ably succeeded by a number of other authors, including Linda Lael Miller. Miller's latest effort, My Outlaw, is definitely worth a look.

Keighly Barrow was seven the first time she saw Darby Elder through the antique mirror, but it wouldn't be the last. Although a century separates them in time, the mirror holds the key to their happiness. Keighly is determined to join him and one night she does. While she ably adjusts to life in the 1800s, she isn't sure if she can change Darby's history. If she can't then Darby will die in a shootout sometime in the coming year.

Although Miller has been known for explicit and numerous love scenes, this story subscribes to the theory that every love scene should move the story along. And the concept of time travel allows for a happy ending for all parties, including those left behind, something that is often not considered by many authors. Though there are some slower sections that probably could have been edited, the story held my attention pretty steadily. Time travel aficionados will be happy with this fix.
