Category romances

Review by Jodi Israel

Category romances have changed drastically over the past decade. They are also the place to check out new authors, though this month I have two perennial favorites to mention. Mind Over Marriage by Rebecca Daniels is the story of Kelsey and Cooper Reed. Once happily married, Kelsey demanded a divorce when she discovered she couldn't bear children. Coop has spent the last two years trying to put his life back together, but when his former father-in-law calls and says Kelsey needs him, he doesn't hesitate.

Kelsey has been in a critical accident. She survived except for a minor detail: she has no memory of the past two years and thinks she and Coop are still married. Though amnesia is a perennial plot device, Daniels puts a fresh spin on it with no melodramatics, just honest emotion on both sides.

Contrast that with My Phony Valentine from Marie Ferrarella. Harlequin introduced their Love & Laughter line in 1996. These short novels with a lighthearted emphasis are perfect whenever you're stuck someplace and need a diversion.

T.J. Cochran and her cousin Theresa Jean are identical in appearance, so it was only natural that Theresa ask T.J. to step in for her during a meeting with a perspective client. T.J. is reluctant but agrees. Christopher MacAffee may be a toy tycoon, but he doesn't know how to have fun. T.J. turns his life around almost over night. But would he forgive her when he discovers she lied to him? Cute, light, and fun, this Patty Duke Show tribute will warm your heart. Not a bad combination at this time of the year.
