Taxes for Dummies, 1997 Edition by Eric Tyson and David J. Silverman. One of the authors, Eric Tyson, also wrote Personal Finance for Dummies. His co-author here is David J. Silverman, an enrolled agent who wrote the critically acclaimed Battling the IRS. It is a lot of book for the money, filled with good examples, icons, and level-headed advice. It follows the line-by-line scheme but also has year-round reference value for taxpayers who plan ahead.
