Review by Sukey Howard
The Tao of Muhammad Ali is less a memoir about Ali than the story of author Davis Miller's finding his place in the cosmos. Yet an intimate portrait of "the greatest of all pugilists" emerges and lets you see him, through Miller's eyes, as he is today.
The boxer, a distant TV image, was a source of strength for Miller when he was a young boy bereft by his mother's death. Ali continues, now a flesh and blood friend, to play a part in Miller's life as a grown man evolving into the writer he has always wanted to be.
Miller reads with Charles S. Dutton, who makes a marvelous Ali.
