Review by Michael Pellecchia
The ability to have increased control over your working environment has major appeal for potential telecommuters, not to mention the convenience of working at home and avoiding the grind of physical commuting. Here are some of the features of this book I found attractive:
- Detailed discussion of how to take advantage of the many services available from local phone companies, including ISDN lines.
- Excellent chapters on fax, modems, and voice messaging which boost the learning curve immensely, not just for telecommuters but any home-based worker.
- Extensive information on the most current computerized working issues today, such as equipping yourself to work on the road, facilitating collaboration through groupware, and attending to data security.
June Langhoff's book is a savvy and informative addition to the growing literature on telecommuting.
