Review by Michael Pellecchia
Bob Weinstein certainly is a straight-talker. None of this mealy-mouthed equivocating or dreamy double-speak for him. He comes right out and says it: you, the over-50 jobseeker, have a terrible disadvantage. Discrimination against age and experience is here to stay. But that doesn't mean you can't overcome it. Like any other challenge, this one is only as decisive as you make it. Weinstein outlines techniques and resources to empower any jobseeker.
What I like best is his attitude toward retiring. Most people don't really look forward to not working, he points out. Retirement is a post-World War II myth arising from the New Deal. The author advises on everything from negotiating your salary to starting your own company. This book is a sure motivator even if you're old enough to know better.
