Book #1 Ghost of Thistle Ridge is a fast-paced mystery that grabs attention at the very start and holds it throughout. Its heroine Megan is a strong, self-confident girl. Book #2 Blue Ribbon Friends is the beginning of the adventures of the Saddle Club at Thistle Ridge Farms. Megan and her fraternal twin Max have just moved to the neighborhood; they must make new friends and settle their horses in a new home. Good books for both boys and girls, the Short Stirrups also make great read-alouds for families. Estes is a riding instructor in New York, and the riding terms are accurate and informative for new riders.
