The Return, a new Star Trek adventure by William Shatner, spent weeks on adult bestseller lists, but its appeal for the younger generation is enormous, too. Shatner reads his novel, and James T. Kirk lives on to fight the good cosmic fight -- joined by Riker, Spock, Data, and other old friends from the Federation -- though at the opening you're quite convinced that one of the galaxy's greatest is as lifeless as the ruins of U.S.S. Enterprise 1701-D.
