Another first novel is Mainline by Deborah Christian. It is the adventure of Reva, a female assassin who has the ability to choose her way across different alternate realities in different timelines. Reva will never find her Now again or her original life and thus becomes well-suited to be a professional assassin involved in the commerce of the oceanic world called Ar'debh. Her successes, especially the death of the boss of Yavobo, have made her a target of Internal Security, but as long as she avoids personal entanglements and utilizes her wild talent, she should be safe. But problems ensue when Reva meets an ambitious smuggler who reminds her of her own youth.
