Review by Etta Wilson

The great American pastime is in full swing. At almost any ball field in the nation you'll find a baseball game-many of them for the younger crowd. During their off-field hours, fans and players alike can choose from a great variety of baseball books to read. Here are a few that hit the strike zone.

Albert's Ballgame by Leslie Tryon is lots of fun for the Little League set. Albert the Duck, the ultimate team manager starring in his fifth book, is out for a lively many-pictured ball game with his animal friends. Young readers will enjoy seeing ostrich and pig collide as they try to snag a fielder, raccoon making a tricky bunt, and squirrel's windup for a blistering pitch to kangaroo. Not much text but plenty of subtle humor in the bright, detailed illustrations.
