Look through Windows and out into the World
I depend on old-fashioned bound books to figure out my PC. The extensive online documentation for almost everything you will encounter on your screen is nice, but having a book next to the computer is like another window on learning.
Some pretty thick tomes have helped me through the early stages of Windows 95, an application that is no slouch itself in making online help available. As I adapt inevitably to the brave new world of Bill Gates, these are the books that have come in handy lately:

Considering online investing?
The landscape of online investing is ever-changing. Reuters and Dow Jones, the institutional giants, now find themselves marketing information to individual investors, alongside outfits such as the upstart Bloomberg real-time financial network. Competition has gotten intense among the big commercial online services. The established ones now have Microsoft Network to contend with, and its business and investment offerings are growing. With Java capability in your Internet browser, you can view your personal portfolio like a real-time stock ticker.
