Review by Alice Cary

Small Talk: A Book of Short Poems is an ideal book for readers graduating from "kiddy" to "real" poetry. Lee Bennett Hopkins has included a glorious potpourri of poets, such as Carl Sandburg, Robert Frost, Langston Hughes, and even Mother Goose. As the subtitles notes, these are short poems, usually about two to four lines, which helps make the verse even more accessible. To top things off, Susan Gaber's watercolor and colored-pencil drawings are exquisite.
