Review by Alice Cary

Gather the wee ones in your lap for Rhymes for Annie Rose, another of the many beloved books by British writer and illustrator Shirley Hughes. Annie Rose is a toddler opening her senses to the world-she chirps from her crib, gazes at a horde of adult feet, sometimes licks her lips ("Lickery, stickery, jammery jee, Buttery toast and buns for tea."). As always, Hughes's poems and illustrations brim over with the energy of everyday life. Preschoolers will be enthralled by the adventures of Annie Rose and her pals.
