The ten poets featured in A Jar of Tiny Stars, edited by Bernice E. Cullinan, are all winners of the National Council of Teachers of English Award for Excellence in Poetry for Children. The volume is a splendid introduction to the works of John Ciardi, Lilian Moore, David McCord, and others. Five poems by each poet are included, along with a quote, a portrait, and a short biographical sketch. Think of this book as a road map to help young readers find their way to even more poetry by these gifted artists.
