Review by Michael Pellecchia

The Irwin Guide to Using The Wall Street Journal, Fifth Edition by Michael B. Lehmann. Put baby boomers worried about retirement together with money, and where do they go? Hightailing it for the investment markets, if events are any proof. Trouble is, it takes a long time, and can be costly, to learn investments by experience. Many of us take our first steps with small IRA accounts. This experience led me to thinking low-priced stocks were cheap, when the opposite is just as often the case. All of this to recognize the importance of The Irwin Guide in its latest edition. It will help you get far more out of your reading of the Wall Street Journal. Lehmann's classic doubles as an investment primer for its discussions of the business cycle, money markets, leading economic indicators, and other applied economic topics for the investor. The book includes many helpful reproductions from pages of the Journal itself.
