Review by Sukey Howard

Jeff Greenfield, media maven and award-winning political analyst, openly admits to authorship of The People's Choice. Though "A Novel of Politics," too, it is well subtitled as A Cautionary Tale. Crammed with more insider insight, this one has some lines and situations that will make you laugh out loud. The President-elect dies just after the election and well before the Electoral College has convened-beginning to get the spin? The Vice-President, an all-too-real Quayle clone, now appears to be closer to the presidency than the proverbial "heartbeat." But, not quite, not when one of the electors doesn't want to go with expected flow. Greenfield knows the media, the pols, the pollsters, the wonks, and the wannabes, and he knows that this may be a real Constitutional crisis that's just waiting to happen. He reads his "cautionary tale" with gusto.
