There's a new kid on the block who is going to give V.I. and Kinsey a run for their money. Stephanie Plum is a charmingly foul-mouthed, tough cookie who inadvertently becomes a bounty hunter on the mean streets of the "burg," otherwise known as Trenton, New Jersey. She and her creator, Janet Evanovich, make their audio debuts in One for the Money. Out of work and money, Stephanie cajoles her reluctant bail bondsman cousin into letting her have a go at nabbing a former cop who has jumped bail for a charge of first-degree murder. Fresh, witty, gritty, offbeat, and full of great pulp-pop characters with crazy names, you will want to hear more from Ms. Plum, and you won't have to wait long.
Two for the Dough, the instant encore, finds Stephanie, with some unasked for assistance from her spunky, septuagenarian Grandma, hunting for another guy from the "burg," who seems to be involved with hot caskets, hot firearms, and a couple of nasty murders, and who is uncouth enough to send Stephanie a selection of dismembered parts from his victims. Lori Petty reads both audios and has the perfect voice and styleÑin fact, I think she probably is Stephanie Plum.
