Peter Dodson's An Alphabet of Dinosaurs is a good place to start. With each letter of the alphabet, Dr. Dodson, vice-president of The Dinosaur Society, devotes a sentence or two to a particular dinosaur, accompanied by a black-and-white sketch and a caption with more facts. On the opposite page are beautiful, otherworldly paintings of the beast by Wayne D. Barlowe. This is a fun choice for the entire family, since everyone can appreciate the artwork, and the text won't overwhelm preschoolers.
