Review by Michael Pellecchia

"How we manage our lives," Roberta Roesch states in her introduction to this most helpful book, "is one of the crucial measuring rods for determining our success. It's also the key to enjoying life rather than hurrying through it." The way to make women's particular juggling act work, Roesch says, is by managing time "women's way," utilizing their natural strengths: an affinity for people, a gift for nurturing, a willingness to talk out problems and to listen well, planning skills and the ability to juggle people and situations, and, most important of all, a general flexibility.

Through hundreds of wide-ranging interviews with working women and time-management professionals, Roesch cuts through all the concerns connected with their working; i.e., balancing work, home, family, relationships, and values. The result is a 13-point program for managing the working hours, the before- and after-work hours, and personal time.

More than 100 working women of different ages and from all walks of life tell how they handle dilemmas that plague them. They offer personal examples of effective time management, even comparing after-work-hours schedules/checklists. Daily to yearly planning sheets, logs, or journals prove indispensable to these successful women. The author's pull-out "Quick-Start" and "Time-Booster" forms provide the basis for starting one's own time-management book.
