Religion, history, mystery

Dear Burning Questions,
I'm a big fan of Bodie and Brock Thoene's books. When is their next release in the Zion Legacy series scheduled?

Margaret
via e-mail

In March, the Thoenes offer up Stones of Jerusalem (Viking). The series began in 1999, and already this prolific writing duo has reached Book 5. This installment continues the story of The Jerusalem Scrolls as Moshe Sachar contemplates a crumbling document he discovered while hiding in a secret tunnel during the 1948 war for independence.

Moore please

Dear Burning Questions,
The book Care of the Soul was so wonderful. I was wondering if Thomas Moore plans to bring his readers more? Thanks.

Denise
Miami, Florida

Should the spirit move you, in April you can pick up a copy of Moore's latest book, sure to soothe the soul, The Soul's Religion: Turning Spirituality Upside Down to Find One's Own Path (HarperCollins).

Gone fishin'

Dear Burning Questions,
I really enjoyed Ian Frazier's On the Rez (which I heard about in your publication), and I'm primarily a fiction reader. What does he have in the works?

Mike
via e-mail

Frazier's new book sounds like a real catch. In April, Farrar, Straus will publish The Fish's Eye: Essays About Angling and the Outdoors. After writing major works like Great Plains and On the Rez, Frazier now turns his attention to major recreation -- fishing.

Very much alive

Dear Burning Questions,
Would appreciate any information on Marsha Sinetar, who authored the bestseller Do What You Love, the Money Will Follow. Have been unable to locate books written by her after 1987. Heard she may have died, any ideas? I've recommended her books to many, including former students, who are also interested in her whereabouts. Thanks.

Judy Cavey
Arroyo Grande, California

We contacted Sinetar's Web site at www.marshasinetar.com and received the following response: "M.S. is extremely well, supremely alive, and fully functioning, although on a lengthy sabbatical, out of the country. Since 1987, she has authored over a dozen books, won awards, given keynotes, been interviewed on countless radio shows, continued her corporate practice and traveled nearly nonstop, writing all the while. Recently she took a sabbatical, [which was] in her words, 'long, long, long overdue.' "

Sinetar prefers a simple, reflective life and shuns the media spotlight. Her 2000 release, Spiritual Intelligence (Orbis), is in its third printing; The Mentor's Spirit (St. Martin's) has won awards for excellence of mentoring.

Sinetar's latest writings deal with the practical aspects of a contemplative life, which she now leads. Her next release is due in summer 2002.

Ten-wheeler

Dear Burning Questions,
Please give us some insight, if you know or can find out, as to when Robert Jordan will release his next book in the Wheel of Time series. We are dying to know as it has been a year [since his last book was released in paperback]. Thank you.

Brian Day
via e-mail

The wheel keeps on turning. The next Wheel of Time book (#10, as yet untitled) is scheduled for publication in November from Tor/Forge Books.

Worth check-ing out

Dear Burning Questions,
When can I expect Kathy Hogan Trocheck's next book?

Karen Marek
Oldenburg, Indiana

We recently heard from the author who relayed the following: "In answer to your burning question: Shh. It's supposed to be a secret. But Kathy Hogan Trocheck's alter ego Mary Kay Andrews [had] a new book out at the end of January. Savannah Blues tells the story of antique picker Eloise 'Weezie' Foley and her recovery from the divorce from hell. Anne Rivers Siddons says, 'Mary Kay Andrews has perfect pitch when it comes to engaging, smart-mouth heroines, and she has caught the languid looniness of the Low Country perfectly. I read it in one sitting.'"

News tidbit

Dear Burning Questions,
I am a fan of Kaye Gibbons. Is she still living and writing in North Carolina? Has she any plans for a new book?

Denise LeCroy
Moncks Corner, South Carolina

According to her publisher at Putnam, Gibbons (A Virtuous Woman, Ellen Foster) is still living and writing in the Carolinas, but her next novel has not yet been scheduled for publication because she's still in the process of writing.

On hiatus

Each fall for the last 30 years I have anticipated the new Dick Francis novel. I was wondering if, after the death of his wife, Mary, he will continue to write. He has said in the past that she always supported and encouraged him in his writing.

Dorothy Fortner
via e-mail

The death of Francis' wife was sad news indeed. His publicist at Putnam recently spoke to Francis' son, who simply said that "he's enjoying taking a rest."

Daddy's girl

I love Mary Higgins Clark. What is the next book she's writing?

Ellen Jones
via e-mail

In April, Simon & Schuster will publish Clark's latest, Daddy's Little Girl. The seed of the story: At the parole hearing for Donald Waring, Trish Duncan begins to wonder whether he was wrongly convicted of killing her sister 20 years ago.
