REVIEW BY ELENA CHANNING

Lindsay McKenna, aka Eileen Nauman, presents her fans with Valkyrie, a thrilling military romance packed with fast-paced action and sizzling suspense. With her first e-book offering, the author known as "the top gun of women's military fiction" delivers more strong and vibrant characters who sweep the reader off into a world where danger lurks and trust is not easy to come by.

Corporal Cathy Freemont is part of the Women's Liberation Force (WLF) led by Major Louise Lane. Cat is tired of the major's strong-arm tactics, and all she really wants is to finish her tour of duty and go home. Time and again, Major Lane has shown that she's willing to go to great lengths to prove that women belong in combat, even if it means sacrificing anyone who stands in her way.

When Major Lane's harmful practices become known, Marine Captain Jim Boland is called in to neutralize the situation. He needs a witness to bring the major down, and Cat is his best choice because she knows exactly how far Major Lane will go in her crusade to achieve her goal. The plan is for Jim to gain Cat's confidence and persuade her to join forces with him against the major. However, upon meeting her, Jim ends up wanting more than just her assistance. As love blossoms, Cat finds herself swept up in a fierce storm of lies and cunning deceit.

With Valkyrie, McKenna demonstrates her innate ability to create colorful backgrounds with convincing characters. The descriptions are vivid and believable, the dialogue engaging, and the narration extremely well done. The secondary characters are also well drawn and add depth to the story.

McKenna has written a powerful military love story that gives readers a taste of danger and political intrigue. The military backdrop helps to build a sense of tension, and the plot moves along gracefully and quickly. For those who enjoy action-adventure romances, Valkyrie is one not to be missed.
