REVIEW BY SHARON GALLIGAR CHANCE

Full of charming humor and passionate romance, Double Dare, the new e-book release by Elaine Hopper, has all the ingredients of a great read. A lighthearted look at the life of Heather Dare, a young woman who is unmarried and pregnant, the novel's mix of comedy and suspense makes it a real page-turner.

Heather copes well with her difficult situation until her overbearing but well-meaning mother bursts on to the scene to threaten her calm serenity. Worried that her daughter's pregnancy will ruin her re-election campaign, Iowa Senator Darlene Dare clutches her chest as if having a heart attack whenever the subject comes up. Afraid that her mother might be truly ill, Heather struggles to come up with an acceptable story while giving herself time to break the whole truth gently. As if on cue, in walks the solution to her dilemma: her best friend and neighbor, Jake Weber—the husband-to-be Heather needs.

Jake is very protective toward his neighbor, but being shanghaied into pretending he is engaged to Heather creates a problem: how is he going to explain the situation to his jealous and possessive fiancée, Brenda? As expected, Brenda hits the roof when she hears about the bogus engagement and is not at all convinced when Jake explains that he is just helping Heather. She sets out to scare the expectant mother away with a series of horribly cruel pranks.

Meanwhile, Jake and Heather begin to suspect that they might be meant for each other. As Senator Darlene settles down to plan the perfect wedding for her daughter, however, one more little obstacle pops up. Matt, the real father of Heather's unborn child, appears out of nowhere, declaring he's had a change of heart. Devastated, Jake backs off to give Heather time to decide what to do: follow her heart and pursue her love for him, give Matt the heave-ho or remain alone and single with her new child.

Action-packed, entertaining and fun, Double Dare is a delightfully romantic tale. Elaine Hopper, author of several e-books, has a genuine knack for the romance genre. Watch for her to make an impressive mark in the new e-book market as an up-and-coming author.
